RRS Feeds Thing #6
It seems that everytime I start exploring "things", I seem to end up adding doubles--double readers, double avatars, etc. Looking for a "reader" and then finding it again was frustrating. The Google Reader is not the easiest to use. It is difficult to add new subscriptions to it. Am I missing the hot button? When I find an interesting page, and click on the rss icon, it defaults to the favourites reader. This does not work on this computer that I am working on, as everything in bookmarks is wiped out when it closes. It is hard being a newbie!

Thing #5--Flickr Card
Actually, the card at the right is not made in Flickr, but was exported to and uploaded from Flickr. This was thing #5, and I should have added some information below. Again, it was a photo from July 09, with that summer's ugly hat! (Kit, I find a new ugly hat each summer.) Also, when we were there this summer, I did not wear a sweater once, as the weather was too hot and humid to need one.
Thing #4 Uploading Photos
I have now explored Flickr, another of the "Things" to do in this online course. I added a "Badge" which links to the photos I uploaded on Flickr. I took the photos last summer, during my July month in Fredericton. As you can see, Gayle and Karen and I went on a Wool hunting trip to Briggs and Little. Tod and I had a lovely time just relaxing. You can see him in the process of making his delicious Roasted Peppers with Goat Cheese. Noted the concentration!
Thing #2 and 3--Creating an Avatar?
Well, I have created an Avatar, as asked, but am not sure what to do with it! Any suggestions? It was fun to create, but I had a little trouble putting it on the page. I also think I make my font too large, so I will change that. Scrolling down gets a little tired. So, this page will undergo lots of changes as I learn to make my way around the blogger site, or dashboard? All this new vocabulary! Also, I have registered the blog, and created the Avatar. Perhaps, my numbering is off--it isn't the only thing that is off!
First Blog! Thing #1
I am taking part in an online tutorial on learning how to blog. I am winding down my teaching career. That means I have finally decided that I will retire in a number of months. This has been a very hard decision, because I love what I do, and feel that I am still improving my teaching practice. However, there are many new avenues to explore, and learning the technology to be in touch with the world is a step that I want to take. So, if you have good advice, please share!
